1st: 2x-1
2nd: 2x+1

Equation:
2x-1 = (1/3)(2x+1) + 16
----------------------
Multiply thru by 3 to get rid of the fraction:
6x -3 = (2x+1) + 48
4x-3 = 49
4x = 52
x = 13
---
1st: 2x-1 = 25
2nd: 2x+1 = 27
