The box is formed by cutting squares that measures 4 inches on each side from the four corners and then folding up the sides. if the volume of the box will be 112 in.^3, what are the dimensions of the piece of cardboard? W=?, L=?
I know volume is length times width times height, but how do I set this up?

Let me use a different variable.
w for width
y for length

y=w+12 for length
and still w for width

Area for the base:
Volume for the box:
NOW it is setup. Solve for w.
