x(x+1) = 3(x+1) + 5

x^2 + x = 3x + 8
------
x^2 - 2x - 8 = 0
(x-4)(x+2) = 0

x = 4 or x = -2
If x = 4, x+1 = 5
If x = -2, x+1 = -1
