Question 836986: The perimeter of a rectangle is 46 units. The difference between the length and the width of the rectangle is 13 units. What is the area of the rectangle?

Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length = x, width = y

x + y = 23
x - y = 13

Add both equations to get 2x = 36 ---> x = 18.

18 + y = 23
y = 5

area = xy = (18)(5) = 90 unit^2
