This is a repeat question.
x + 3y = 5
2x + y = 8
Multiply the second equation by -3 and add:
x + 3y = 5
-6x - 3y = -24
------------------
-5x = -19 ------> x = 19/5
y = (5 - 19/5)/3 = 2/5
(x, y) = (19/5, 2/5)
