There are three consecutive integers.
n, (n+1), (n+2) are the consecutive integers
:
Write an equation for the the statement:
" If six times the first number is increased by the third the result is fifty-one."
6n + (n+2) = 51
Combine like terms
6n + n= 51 - 2
7n = 49
Divide both sides by 7
n = 7 is the 1st integer, then obviously, 8, and 9 are the next two
:\
:
Check your work in the given statement
" If six times the first number is increased by the third the result is fifty-one.
6(7) + 9 = 51
:
All these type of problems are done similar to this, just remember if they say
"3 consecutive EVEN or ODD integers" it would be n, n+2, n+4
