Question 782317: The product of two consecutive positive integers is 27 more than five times the larger integer. Find the integers.
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
consecutive integers: x, (x+1)
x(x+1) = 27 + 5(x+1)
x^2 + x = 5x + 32
x^2 - 4x - 32 = 0
(x - 8)(x + 4) = 0
x = 8, x = -4
x is positive, so the integers are 8 and 9.
