Have tried to solve for Larry or X = 2Y+4, but that give you 3 and 3 won't work cause Larry would hve hit 10 HR on his own.

S + L = 10

Substitute for "S" and solve for L
2L+4+L = 10
3L = 6
L = 2

Solve for "S":
S = 2L+4
S = 2*2+4
