Question 521366: one positive integer is 1 less then twice another. the sum of their squares is 673. find the integers....
Answer by Math_prodigy(24) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=2y-1
X^2+y^2=673
(2y-1)^2+y^2=673
4y^2-4y+1+y^2=673
5y^2-4y-672=0
y=12
y=-11.2 - reject
x=2*12-1=23
Answer: 12 and 23
