Question 496819: the larger of two consecutive odd integers is 7 greather than twice the smaller. find the integers
Answer by Maths68(1474)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let
smaller number = x+1
larger number =x+3
twice the smaller = 2(x+1)
larger is 7 greater = (x+3)+ 7
According to the given condition
2(x+1)=(x+3)+ 7
2x+2=x+3+7
2x+2=x+10
2x-x=10-2
x=8
so
smaller number = x+1=8+1=9
larger number =x+3=8+3=11
