"Find two consecutive odd numbers such that the sum of the greater number and 5 times the smaller number is 92"
x = 1st odd number
x + 2 = 2nd odd number {odd number increase by 2 each time}
x + 2 + 5x = 92 {sum of greater number and five times smaller is 92}
6x + 2 = 92 {combined like terms}
6x = 90 {subtracted 2 from both sides}
x = 15 {divided both sides by 6}
x + 2 = 17 {substituted 15, in for x, into x + 2}
15 and 17 are the two odd numbers
