For three consecutive integers, when four times the third is subtracted from five times the first, the result is –4. Find the integers.
Let x be the first number then (x +1) and (x + 2) be the second and third number respectively.
5x - 4(x+2) = -4
5x - 4x - 8 = -4
x = 4
The three numbers are 4,5, and 6.
