If the product of two consecutive odd integers is increased by the third of the larger one the result is whose sum 190. Find the two integers
------------------
1st: 2x-1
2nd: 2x+1
----
Equation:
(2x-1)(2x+1)+(1/3)(2x+1) = 190
----
4x^2-1 + (1/3)(2x+1) = 190
Multiply thru by 3 to get:
12x^2-3 + 2x+1 = 3*190
-----
12x^2+2x -2 = 570
---
12x^2+2x - 572 = 0
----
6x^2 + x - 286 = 0
-------------
Note: I must have interpreted your post incorrectly.
Values of x would not produce integers.
