Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x+5)^2+x^2=25^2
x^2+10x+25+x^22=625
2x^2+10x+25-625=0
2x^2+10x-600=0
(2x-30)(x+20)=0
2x-30=0
2x=30
x=30/2
x=15 miles for the south bound car.
Proof:
(15+5)^2+15^2=25^2
20^2+225=625
400+225=625
625=625
