Any positive odd number is of the form where (and n is an integer). So another positive odd number may look like where (and m is an integer). Also, we can make the condition that


Add the two numbers to get


Notice how is of the form which is even where 'q' is some integer. Ie


So is an even number which means that the sum of two positive odd numbers is ALWAYS a positive even number.



Example: 3 and 5 are positive odd numbers and 3+5 = 8 is an even number.
