Question 238134: the sum of the squares of two consecutive positive even intergers is 340. find the intergers
Answer by JimboP1977(311)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2+(x+2)^2 =340
X^2+x^2+4x+4 = 340
2x^2+4x+4 = 170
x^2+2x= 168
(x+1)^2 - 1 = 168
x = (168 + 1)^1/2 - 1
x = 12
So the two integers are 12 and 14
