twice the greater of two consecutive odd integers is 13 less than three times the lesser. find the intergers.
.
Let x = 1st consecutive odd integer
then
x+2 = greater consecutive odd integer
.
2(x+2) = 3x-13
2x+4 = 3x-13
4 = x-13
17 = x
.
Greater integer:
x+2 = 17+2 = 19
.
Therefore, the two integers are 17 and 19

twice the greater of two consecutive odd integers is 13 less than three times the lesser. find the intergers.

Let the smaller of the 2 numbers be S

Then the greater number would be S + 2

Since twice the greater of the 2 odd integers is 13 less than three times the lesser, we will have:

2(S + 2) = 3S - 13

2S + 4 = 3S - 13

2S - 3S = - 13 - 4

- S = - 17

Therefore, the smaller odd integer is and the larger consecutive odd integer is (17 + 2)

Twice the greater integer, 19, is 38 (2 * 19)

3 times the lesser integer is 51 (3 * 17)

Twice the greater integer, or 38 is 13 less than 3 times the lesser integer, or 51 (51 - 13 = 38)
