the sum of two integers is greater than 12, one integer is ten less than twice the other. what are the least values of the integers?
.
Let x = one integer
and y = other integer
.
x+y > 12
x = 2y-10
.
2y-10 + y > 12
3y-10 > 12
3y > 22
y > 22/3
.
The smallest integer value of y is 8.
.
to find x:
x = 2y-10
x = 2(8)-10
x = 16-10
x = 6
.
The two integers: 6 and 8
