Question 995555: Having a hard time figuring out how to do this question. Any help would be much appreciated!
A seatbelt has been tested and found to protect 80% of passenger dummies from severe injury in a large crash testing study. Now researchers want to see if a seat belt constructed from new material will work even better.

1) What would the null and alternative hypotheses be? Express them both in symbols and in words in the context of this problem.

2) The new seat belt is tested and the P-value is 0.367. What would you conclude about the new seat belt? (Be sure to state your decision regarding the null hypothesis and what this means in the context of the problem.)

A seatbelt has been tested and found to protect 80% of passenger dummies from severe injury in a large crash testing study. Now researchers want to see if a seat belt constructed from new material will work even better.
1) What would the null and alternative hypotheses be? Express them both in symbols and in words in the context of this problem.
p1 = 80%
If p2 is even better, p2 > p1
Ho:: p1-p2 = < 0 (claim)
Ha:: p1-p2 > 0
------------
2) The new seat belt is tested and the P-value is 0.367. What would you conclude about the new seat belt? (Be sure to state your decision regarding the null hypothesis and what this means in the context of the problem.)
If that p-value is greater than the level of significance (alpha) of the
test, reject Ho.
Rejecting Ho means the test supports the claim that the new belts
are better.
