Find the range, variance, and standard deviation for the given sample data. If the subject's blood pressure remains constant and the medical students correctly apply the same measurement technique what should be the value of the standard deviation?

range is 26 (147-121)
variance is 70.58
standard deviation is 8.40
As a retired physician, I have a problem with the second part of this question. The value of the SD should be zero in a perfect world, because they are all measuring the same thing properly and there will be no change. In a real world, the ability to hear the blood pressure sounds and to note it is a very different situation altogether. "correctly apply the same measurement technique" does not deal with that issue. It is possible to correctly do it and get different results from somebody who correctly does it, even assuming constant blood pressure. If done perfectly, there should be no variability and therefore the sd should be zero.
