Question 972891: Explain why this is or is not a probability distribution.
x 1 2 3 4
P(x) 0.4 0.3 0.4 -0.1

my answer:
This is a probability distribution because all the P(x) values in the table are between 0 and 1 which make it inclusive.
Am I leaving something out and does it need more detail?

Explain why this is or is not a probability distribution.
x 1 2 3 4
P(x) 0.4 0.3 0.4 -0.1
Answer: This is NOT a probability distribution because P(X=4) = -0.1 < 0 which is not possible in a probability distribution. The probability of any event should be between 0 and 1 (inclusive).
