Question 971497: When throwing a die, what is the probability of getting an even number or a number bigger than 3?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P (even) + P(>3)= P(even)+P(>3)-P(BOTH)
= (1/2) + (1/2) - (1/3)=(2/3)
Or, look at the 6 outcomes it is OR, so 2,4,5,6 all work, the 2 because it is even and the others, because they are greater than 3. That is 4/6.
