Question 970024: What is the probability of rolling a sum of 8 or 6 on a pair of number cubes?
Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each cube has 6 sides, so there are (6 x 6=36) 36 possible combinations.
Out of these 36, there are 5 ways to roll 8:
(2,6),(3,5),(4,4),(5,3) and (6,2)
And there are 5 ways to roll 6:
(1,5),(2,4),(3,3),(4,2) and(5,1)
So there are 10 ways to roll either a 6 or an 8.
ANSWER: The probability of rolling a 6 or an 8 are 10/36=5/18
