Question 955960: I was told that the following question is impossible to solve, could you tell me if this is accurate. If impossible can you please explain to me why?
The number of flaws per sheet in a certain grade of plywood has a mean of 3 and a standard deviation of 0.9.
(A) If possible, find the probability that a randomly chosen sheet of plywood has 3 or more flaws. If impossible, tell why.
Thanks in advance.

Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The Probability (Pr) that a randomly chosen sheet of plywood has 3 or more flaws = 1 - Pr(X<3)
now calculate the z-value for x<3,
z-value = (3 - 3) / 0.9 = 0,
consult table of z values for associated Pr
Pr(X<3) = 0.5 and
The Probability (Pr) that a randomly chosen sheet of plywood has 3 or more flaws = 1 - 0.5 = 0.5
