Question 954000: Hi there! I was hoping someone could help me answer this question:
As Elizabeth leaves the Elite Cafe, she randomly selected 2 mint candies from a bowl containing a mixture of 22 green mints and 41 red mints. Find the probability that she gets (a) 1 green mint and 1 red mint (b) 2 green mints

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
As Elizabeth leaves the Elite Cafe, she randomly selected 2 mint candies from a bowl containing a mixture of 22 green mints and 41 red mints. Find the probability that she gets
(a) 1 green mint and 1 red mint
# of green/red pairs:: 22*41 = 902
# of random pairs:: 63C2 = 1953
P(green/red pair) = 902/1953 = 0.4619
--------------------------------
(b) 2 green mints
# of green/green pairs: 22C2 = 231
# of random pairs:: 1953
P(green/green pair) = 231/1953 = 0.1183
