A card is drawn from a standard 52 card deck. Event A is picking a card less than 10 and Event B is picking a red face card.
Are events A and B inclusive or mutually exclusive?
Ans: There are cards that are less than 10 and red. so
the events are inclusive.
------------------------------------
Note: I am assuming that "cards less than 10" are 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.
Find P (A not b)
P(A) = 4*8/52 = 8/13
-
P(B) = 1/2
P(not B) = 1/2
-----
# of cards in A U B' = 42
------
P(A and not B) = P(A)+P(not B) - P(A or not B)
= [32 + 26 - 42]/52
------
= 6/52
------------
