Question 942355: What is the probability that the state will be hit by a major tornado at least once in the next ten years if the probability for a single year is 1/5?
Answer by mathmate(429)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Given:
probability of hit (success) by a tornado in any given year =

To find:
Probability of hit by a tornado at least once in the next 10 years.

Solution:
Assuming constant probability of hit (1/5) and independence between years
probability of no hit in all 10 years is
probability of at least one hit =

Ans. probability of at least one tornado hit in the next 10 years is 0.8926
