Question 917073: This is the situation.
jean forgot to study for an eight-question multiple choice quiz. Each question contains four possible answers. Jean will guess the answer to each question.
a) what is the probability that she will get only two questions correct?
my thoughts: i thought that it would be binomial distribution. but i dont understand where the p and q numbers would be for the equation.
the equation:
nCx * Px * (1 – P)n – x
i believe that n would be 8 and x would be 2 however i don't understand the rest. would P be 0.25 because she only gets two right and then q would be 0.75?

p is the probability of success; the probability that Jean answers a given question correctly. In this case p = 0.25 and q = 0.75, but not for the reason you stated. If the multiple choice test had five choices per question, then p = 0.2 and q = 1-p = 0.8.
