Question 913676: I have 2 questions:
Over the past ten years, a high school Spanish teacher has been giving the same comprehensive final examination to all students in first-year Spanish. The mean of this examination is 78.4 and the standard deviation is 14.8. To pass the course, a student must score at least a 55.
(b) Develop the sampling distribution of the mean for random samples of size n=100. (In other words, what are the mean and standard error for this distribution?)
(c) What is the probability that a random sample of 100 students will result in a sample mean that is greater than the minimum passing score? Include a sketch of the normal curve for this.
Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
b) mean = 78.4, s = 55/sqrt(100) = 5.5
c) z = -23.4/5.5, P(z > -4.2545) = normalcdf(-4.2545, 100) = 1.00 0r 100%
z = -4.2545 VERY.... far to the left(basically everyone passes)
