A sum of money is to be distributed among A, B,C and D in the proportion of 5:2:4:3.
Let x = the multiplier
then A,B,C,D can be written
5x, 2x, 4x, 3x
:
If C gets Nu. 1000 more than D,
C = D + 1000
therefore
4x = 3x + 1000
4x - 3x = 1000
x = 1000 is the multiplier
