Question 888310: I need the answer to the following problem, if possible show work so that I can see how to work it out.
Let a random sample be taken of size n=36 from a population with known standard deviation of σ = 3. Suppose that the mean of the sample is x̅ = 37. The approximate 95% confidence interval for the mean, μ, of the population from which the sample was drawn is:
Answer by oscargut(2103) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
alpha = 1-0.95 = 0.05
z(alpha/2) = z0.025 = 1.96
CI (Lower,UPPer)
Lower = x-bar - z0.025(σ)/sqrt(n) = 37 - 1.96(3)/6 = 36.02
Lower = x-bar + z0.025(σ)/sqrt(n) = 37 + 1.96(3)/6 = 37.98
Answer: (36.02,37.98)
