Question 884437: The probability of a randomly selected employee of a company being male is 60%. The probability of the employee being less than 30 years old is 70%. If the probability of the employee being less than 30 years old given that the employee is a male is 40%, what is the probability that the employee is a male, given that the employee is less than 30 years old?
Answer by skartikey(21) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let event male is denoted by M and event less than 30 is denoted by L. We are given
P(M)=0.6
P(L)=0.7
P(L/M)=0.4=P(LM)/P(M)
P(LM)=0.4 P(M)=0.4(0.6)=0.24
Therefore
P(M/L)=P(LM)/P(L)
=0.24/0.7
=0.3429
