Question 880869: Let's say you perform a left tailed test.
Calculated test statistics is z = –1.82.
Significance level is 5% (0.05).
Find Critical Cutoff z-value, identify Rejection Region.
Does test statistics z-value fall in Rejection Region?
Should we reject or do not reject null hypothesis?

Answer by ewatrrr(24785)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Critical Cutoff z-value = invNorm(.05) = -1.645
Rejection Region: z < -1.645
z = -1.82 falls in rejection region -1.82 < -1.645
reject null hypothesis
For the normal distribution: Below: z = 0, z = ± 1, z= ±2 , z= ±3 are plotted.
Area under the standard normal curve to the left of the particular z is P(z)
Note: z = 0 (x value: the mean) 50% of the area under the curve is to the left and 50% to the right
