You have 6 coins in your pocket. Exactly two of them are coins of 10 cents, which you want to find. Let's say that everytime you put your hand in your pocket, you find one coin, which you keep if it's one of 10 cents or you put it back in your pocket if it's not. Let X1 the additional number of times that is required until you find and the second coin of 10 cents.
(a) What is the mean number of times that you put your hand in your pocket until you find the first coin of 10 cents?
(b) What is the mean number of times that you put your hand in your pocket until you find and the second coin of 10 cents?
(c) Now suppose that everytime you pull out a coin that it's not one of 10 cents, but instead of putting it back in your pocket, you put it in ANOTHER pocket. Do your answers change , and if so, how much in the two above questions?
