(ii) only one is unsuitable
(iii) neither is unsuitable.

(b) A mildew remover is tried out on various mildew patches. It is found
that 40% of mildew is removed on the first application, but the remaining
patches are resistance so that the proportion removed in any subsequent
application is only one half that of the preceding application. Find the
probability that a mildew patch will survive 3 applications.
Q5. The number of butterflies appearing in a garden follows a Poisson distribution
with a mean of 10 butterflies per hour. Find the probability of there being
(a) exactly 5 butterflies in a 30 minute interval,
(b) at most 3 butterflies in a 10 minute interval,

(d) exactly 1 butterfly in each of three consecutive 5 minute intervals.
