Question 863316: I have decided to hold a barbeque on June 21. If the probability that it will rain that day is 0.21 and the probability that the temperature will be less than 15 degrees is 0.14 and I have decided that I will not have the barbeque if it either rains or is colder than 15 degrees, what is the probaility that the barbeque will go ahead? I also know that in June the probability of the temperature being less than 15 degrees and it also raining is 0.13. Give your answer to 2 decimal places
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
before knowing about the .13 probability
.21+.14=.35
1-.35=.65
65% chance the BBQ will happen
The .13 is for both things happening at the same time.
I am not sure if you need to deal with that. The original "or" might deal with it.
If not, it is 1-.13-.14-.21=.52=52%
so it is either .65 or .52
that the bbq will happen.
