Hi,
The letters A, B, C, D, and E are arranged in random order. 5! = 120 total ways
6 ways of arranging exactly ABC (3P3) in the string of 5 letters
a) P(letters A, B, and C appear in this particular order) = 6/120 = 1/20
6 ways of arranging exactly ABC (3P3) in the string of 5 letters
6 ways of ABC in any order: ABC,ACB,BAC, BCA, CAB, CBA
b) P(What is the probability that the letters A, B, and C appear in any
order) =
(i.e.ABC, CBA, BCA etc.)
