Question 856964: Will anyone help me with this problem of probability please? :( I need an answer very bad... Thank you in advance.
3 balls are thrown random on 2 boxes.
We set S = {0,1,2,3} , where the outcome s refers to s balls in first box. (Which means 3-s balls on second box).
We suppose that all 4 outcomes have equal probability.
(We must observe here that if every ball was going in a box independently than the other balls, there would be a different metre of probability).
Let event A where first box contains at least 1 ball and event B where second box contains at least 2 balls.
i) Count P(A),P(B),P(A∪B).
ii) Are A, B indepedent?
iii) Are A, A' independent?
iv) Are B, B' independent?
v) Are A, A∪B independent?
vi) Are A, A∩B independent?
Answer by math1239028(4) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P.S. I tried that A={1,2,3} and B={2,3}
So, P(A)=3/4 and P(B)=1/2 since all 4 outcomes have equal probability.
Hence, based on this data, all events on the questions are NOT indepedent.
