Question 828287: 1. find the probability that the machine works?
2. Find the probability that the machine does not work?
A machine part is made up of four independent part (A,B,C,D). To operate the machine, each part must work. The probabilities of the parts working are
P(A) = .9
P(B) = .7
P(C) = .8
P(D) = .9
my answer for 2 is .9+.7+.8+.9 = 3.3/4 so the answer is 84.5%
my answer for 3 is .1+.3+.2+.7 = .7/4 so the answer is 17.5%

1. find the probability that the machine works?
2. Find the probability that the machine does not work?
A machine part is made up of four independent part (A,B,C,D). To operate the machine, each part must work. The probabilities of the parts working are
P(A) = .9
P(B) = .7
P(C) = .8
P(D) = .9
------
Answers:
1. P(it works) = 0.9*0.7*0.8*0.9 = 0.4536
2. P(does not work) = 1 - 0.4536 = 0.5464
