Prove that if V and W are two independent events such that V is a subset of W, then either P(V) = 0 or P(W) = 1.
Solution:
if V and W are two independent events then P(V and W)=P(V)P(W)
if V is a subset of W then "V and W" = "V" then P(V and W) = P(V)
Then: P(V)=P(V)P(W)
P(V)=0 or P(V) is not 0
If P(V) is not 0 then P(W)=1
Then P(V)=0 or P(W)=1
