Question 761495: A statistic problem I'm confused about is 42/(42-6)!6! I don't understand how to simplify this for my final answer. The denominator portion of the problem is my biggest issue, how should I go about it?
Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'm confused about is 42/(42-6)!6!
-------
42C6 = 42!/[(42-6)!*6!] = (42*41*40*39*38*37)/(1*2*3*4*5*6) = 5,245,786
--------------------
Notice: There are as many factors in the numerator and in the denominator.
The numerator starts with 42 and goes down.
The denominator starts with 1 and goes up.
Notice that I have put brackets around the denominator of 42C6
