 A recent election return indicated that 55% voted for a proposal, 40% voted against it, and 5% abstained. What is the probability that a voter either abstained or voted against the proposal? 
a. 5% 
b. 40% 
c. 45% 
d. 55%

P(abstained or voted against) = 5% + 40% = 0.45
