add up the picture cards in a deck (four each of jack, queen and king) - so 12 cards. the chance of picking one of these is therefore 12/52, which is 3/13 when cancelled down. if the ACE is also included as a picture card then just follow the same logic and the probabilty will be 16/52, which is 4/13.
