A market research agency takes a sample of 1000 people and finds that 200 know of brand X . After an advertising campaighn a further sample of 1091 people are taken and its found that 240 people are aware of brand X . Its required to know if there has been an increase having awareness of brand X at 5 % level of significance
-------------
Ho: p1-p2=0
Ha: p1-p2<0
p1-hat=200/1000=0.2
p2-hat=240/1091=0.219998
z(0.2-0.219998)=z(-0.01998)=-1.11975
Using 2-Prop Z Test on TI-83 I get
p value = 0.13
Conclusion:
Since p value > alpha, Fail to Reject Ho.
The advertising campagne seems to have done no good.
