Question 747460: a person can solve 80% of paper and another can solve 60% paper.what is the probability that atleast one of them will solve the problem form the questions paper at random
Answer by mikeebsc(26)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Person a = .80
Person b = .60
We use the addition rule for the probability of A or B which says:
The probability that 2 events A or B will occur P(a or b) is given by the equation:
P(a or b) = P(a) + P(b) - P(a*b)
P(a or b) = P(.80) + P(.60) - P(.80*.60)
P(a or b) = 1.4-.48
P(a or b) = .92
