Question 718059: ok it says: of the water lilies in the pond 43% are yellow. The others are white. A frog randomly jumps on to a lily. Describe the complement of the frog landing on a yellow lily and find it propability. PLEASE PEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If 43% are yellow, the 57% are white
The complement of landing on a yellow is
landing on a white.
The frog has 57/100 probability of landing on
a white lilly.
---------------
Note that this only works if there is 0 probability
that the frog will miss both kinds and land
in the water. The frog has to be a good jumper.
---------------
Note also that the total of probabilities must
add up to 1, and it does
43/100 + 57/100 = 100/100
43/100 + 57/100 = 1
OK
