Question 715944: The ages od a group of 50 women are approximately normally disributed with a mean of 50 years and a standard deviation of 6 years. One woman is randomly selected from the group, and her age is observed. Find the probability that her age will fall between 56 and 61 years. I don't understand this and I am having trouble.

The ages od a group of 50 women are approximately normally disributed with a mean of 50 years and a standard deviation of 6 years. One woman is randomly selected from the group, and her age is observed. Find the probability that her age will fall between 56 and 61 years.
----
z(56) = (56-50)/6 = 1
That means 56 is 1 standard deviation above the mean.
------
z(61) = (61-50)/6 = 1.8333
That means 61 is 1.8333 standard deviations above the mean.
----
Use your z-chart, calculator, or other technology to
find the area above the interval [1,1.8333] and below
the normal curve.
-----
normalcdf(1,1.8333) = 0.1253
