Question 678426: I need to find the first and second quintiles (20th and 40th percentiles) of the data shown here:
52 61 88 43 64
71 39 73 51 60
I use a TI 84 calculator and it can solve for quartiles, but then how do you solve for quintiles, or even deciles?

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I need to find the first and second quintiles (20th and 40th percentiles) of the data shown here:
52 61 88 43 64
71 39 73 51 60
-----
20^ of 10 = 2
----
The 3rd element from the minimum has 20% of the data below it
20%ile = 51
-----
The 5th element has 40% of the data below it
40%ile = 60
==================
The TI-84 will rank the data but will not calculate quint's and deci's
