Question 672154: A sample space contains 10 simple events:
E1, E2,..., E10. If P(E1) = 3P(E2) = 0.39
and the remaining simple events are equiprobable, find the probabilities of these remaining simple events. (Enter your answers to three decimal places.)
I was able to figure out E2 but I cannot get the rest. Please help ASAP!
E2=0.13
E3=
E4=
E5=
E6=
E7=
E8=
E9=
E10=

Answer by neatmath(302)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

In this case, if P(E1)=.39 and P(E2)=.13,

then it should be simple to find the rest.

Why? Because the sum of the probabilities for ALL 10 events must add up to EXACTLY 1.

So, we have 8 equally probable events left.

We also have or .48 probability left to account for.

So we just need to simply divide .48 by 8 since the 8 events are equally probable.

So P(E3) and the probability of the other final 7 events is simply 0.06

I hope this helps! :)
