All the student needs to do to pass is get 10% which means that the student needs to get at least one of the 10 test questions right. The chance of guessing the right answer on one of the questions is 1/5. If the student needed 20% or 2 right questions, the probability would be 1/5 * 1/5, the product of the probability of getting one right question and the probability of getting another question right.
